Download Rebecca Humphries Has Joined The Cast Of The Crown, Playing Margaret Thatcher’s Daughter Carol
The fourth series of the royal drama, which lands on Netflix on November 15, will focus on the 1970s and 1980s, including The Queen’s reported tensions with her Prime Minister over her divisive politics.
Gillian Anderson will play Thatcher while Olivia Colman returns as the Queen.
Carol Thatcher was a journalist in the late 1970s, and had a relationship with Tory MP Jonathan Aitken which ended just after her mother won the 1979 election. The break-up was alleged to have been the reason why he was bypassed for a ministerial career with Margaret Thatcher reportedly telling Cabinet colleagues that she was damned if she was going to give a job to a man who had made Carol cry’.
Humphries, who played the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 with a show called Prom Kween hit the headlines later that year year as she was dating Seann Walsh when the comic was pictured drunkenly kissing his married Strictly Come Dancing partner Katya Jones on a night out in London. She later accused Walsh as being controlling.
Since then she has appeared in BBC Two’s Trigonometry and an episode of Friday Night Dinner, while previous credits include Morgana Robinson’s The Agency and Cockroaches, alongside Daniel Lawrence Taylor, Tom Davis and Jack Whitehall.
Also revealed as joining The Crown today is Angus Imrie, who will play Prince Edward. The son of regular Victoria Wood collaborator Celia Imrie, he was recently seen as Jake in the second series of Fleabag,
