Linkin Park Recall ‘Almost Crying’ Upon Hearing Chester Bennington’s Voice For The First Time

Linkin Park have spoken up about the first time they heard late frontman Chester Bennington’s voice, with one member saying they were almost brought to tears.

As reported by Loudwire, the band shared in a press junket that an old unreleased song of theirs – ‘Pictureboard’ – was the first time they had heard Bennington sing.

“Unless my memory is super wrong,” guitarist Brad Delson said, “which is very possible, but not likely, I think that was the first thing I heard Chester’s voice on.”

“I remember getting that and saying, ‘Hey, what do you think of this guy? He just sent us this recording’,” he continued.

“I wasn’t like crying with joy, but almost. I was like, ‘Wow, I don’t even know what that is.’ He’s so tiny and vulnerable on the verse and you can hear all those timbres and harmonics and then all the overtones on the heavy part. To me, it just blew my hat off my head. And then we were like, ‘We gotta meet this guy.’”

‘Pictureboard’ is set for release alongside the band’s huge 20th anniversary reissue of Hybrid Theory, which is due out Friday, 9th October.

The reissue also features previously unreleased single, ‘She Couldn’t, which you can listen to below.
