Cavani has signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford, joining the Premier League side on a free transfer after leaving Paris-Saint Germain this summer
Edinson Cavani has been confirmed as a Manchester United player after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed the striker on transfer deadline day.
Cavani has signed a two-year deal worth £200,000-a-week as manager Solskjaer bids to turn United back into genuine Premier League title contenders.
The Uruguayan international joined the Red Devils on a free transfer, having left Paris-Saint Germain this summer after his contract expired at the Parc des Princes.
One of the most experienced strikers in European football, 33-year-old Cavani scored 200 goals in 301 games during seven seasons with the French side, helping them to six Ligue 1 titles.
Prior to joining PSG he spent two years with Napoli, firing 104 times in 138 appearances for the Serie A club.
He has also scored 50 goals for Uruguay having earned 116 senior caps, having helped fire his country to their 2011 Copa America triumph.
Cavani’s move to United came somewhat out of the blue after the Old Trafford outfit spent the summer chasing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho as their top target.
Dortmund slapped a £108million price tag on England winger Sancho and have not budged from their valuation, with the Red Devils not thought to be willing to pay more than £90m.
United were also set to sign left-back Alex Telles from Porto on transfer deadline day, as well as tying up a deal for Cavani’s compatriot Facundo Pellestri.
Pellestri, an 18-year-old winger, is expected to sign a five-year deal in a £10m deadline day move from Penarol.
Cavani, Telles and Pellestri will join Donny van de Beek in signing for United, after the midfielder completed a £40m move from Ajax earlier in the summer.
